"Probably the most iconic solid-fueled rocket of the war was the bazooka" (Website 1). This weapon was a man-portable rocket launcher that could be fired from the shoulder. It was easy and quick to use against tanks or large ground forces. "Only Germany put serious effort into the development of long-range, liquid-fueled rockets; the result was the V-2" (Website 1). This rocket was 14 tons and could reach speeds of 3,500 miles per hour. It could go more than 200 miles and was mostly used against London and Belgium. "The most notorious weapon of WWII was the atom bomb" (Website 1). This weapon was made possible because of the newly discovered process known as nuclear fission. This was used to make bombs of unimaginable explosive power.
"Enter the M-1 Garand, a semi-automatic rifle that could pump out bullets with a far-higher rate of fire" (Website 2). This weapon was a new American invention that gave American soldiers a fighting chance against the German MG 42. This was a very solid and reliable weapon. Another new great weapon "was the Essex-class flattop" (Website 2). This aircraft carrier could hold about a hundred fighter planes, dive-bombers and torpedo-bombers, and were equipped with advanced radar. Because of the carriers, America was able to devastate the Japanese Navy in the Philippine Sea. This obviously made every American proud to show that we don't take kindly to being attacked, and we will strike back with furious revenge. "The efficient engine of this destruction (of the Japanese Navy) was the Gato-Class submarine, the backbone of the U.S. underwater fleet" (Website 2). These newly developed and upgraded subs were responsible for sinking about 55% of the the Japanese ships. These subs were also a great way to fight back against the German U-Boats and posed as a real threat to our enemies. We were definitely showing that America can prove to be a great ally in war and was up their with the big boys with new technological toys.
